Children in Kansas Received Joy and Gifts
Across the Nation, Toys for Tots is providing smiles for today and hope for tomorrow to children who are living in challenging circumstances. This spring and summer, local nonprofits have been hosting distribution events to spread joy and hope to children in need in their communities.
United Way of the Plains Give Items of Value (GIV), a Good360 Community Redistribution Partner, recently worked with nonprofits in the Wichita, Kansas area to distribute 15,123 provided gifts from Toy for Tots. The gifts included popular board games, Legos, craft and science experiment kits, stuffed animals, sports equipment and more!
This past spring, a surprise distribution was held by Table of Hope – a nonprofit that provides a weekly drive-thru food pantry. The 1,105 children from the local area attended with bright eyes and gleaming smiles and were thrilled to receive the 4,679 toys and games!
Director of Community Services and manager of the GIV program, Mark Stump, said, “Toys like these give children a creative outlet in the summer and bring much joy to their parents during a time of uncertainty and crisis for their family.”
The remaining toys were provided to Catholic Charities and United Methodist Open Door to distribute to clients who have children in their domestic violence shelters, homeless shelters, counseling programs, and food ministry programs.
Toys for Tots’ partnership with nonprofits across the Nation allows for joy and hope to be spread beyond the holiday season. We are a year-round force for good.
