Christmas in June Delivers Hope and Early Christmas Magic to Children in West Michigan

Marine Toys for Tots doesn’t wait until Christmastime to support children in need. With the rising cost of living and other economic challenges, parents are finding it increasingly difficult to pay bills and put food on their family’s table, and buying toys, books, or games for their children seems completely out of reach. That’s why Toys for Tots strives to be a year-round force good—we want to remind children that there is still hope to be found in a simple gift.

West Michigan local nonprofit, The Storehouse, had the same mission in early June for children in the local area. The mission of Storehouse, a Good360 Community Redistribution Partner, is to reduce poverty and create a more sustainable future for all in West Michigan by providing new household and school supplies to their nonprofit and school partners.

Thanks to the gifts provided by Toys for Tots, The Storehouse held a surprise ‘Christmas in June’ event in conjunction with local nonprofit, VanEerden Foodservice. Seventy children left with joy in their hearts from the lunch and new toys that were distributed! Although the weather was warm, the spirit of Christmas was seen throughout the event.

“We partnered with our members who serve families in the West Michigan area and were able to impact some of our littlest community members with a surprise Christmas in June event,” said Jessica Johns, Executive Director & Co-Founder, The StoreHouse. “The kids were beyond ecstatic to receive brand new toys [from Toys for Tots], and a lunch courtesy of VanEerden Foodservice. It’s great to see so many community members working together for the greater good!”  

The event, among many other summertime distributions, spreads joy and hope through the hearts of economically disadvantaged children all across the Nation.

Needs aren’t seasonal, and neither is Toys for Tots.
