Chicagoland Children Receive Hope for a Brighter Summer

Toys for Tots is more than a Christmastime charity – the Program’s mission is to deliver hope to children in need during the holiday season and beyond.  Toys for Tots continues to partner with Good360 and their network of nonprofits to provide comfort and emotional support when it’s needed most.

Chicago, Illinois, nonprofit, My Joyful Heart, supports Chicagoland children in need year-round. The organization provides basic life essentials, school supplies, clothing, personalized holiday gifts, and letters of encouragement to lift their spirits and instill hope for a brighter future.

As schools across the Nation are winding down, children in need will lose access to educational resources, books, and games. Toys for Tots is a year-round force for good and we want to provide children in need with the tools and educational resources they need to prevent learning loss, and My Joyful Heart shares that same mission.

To help prepare the children for summer, My Joyful Heart distributed toys, books, and games –provided by Toys for Tots – to 1,100 Chicagoland children in need along with clothing, hygiene items, and snacks. Summer is often a difficult time for children who don’t have the safety net that school provides, so the items they receive remind them of their tremendous worth and value.

My Joyful Heart’s Director of Operations, Erin Burns, said, "We are so thankful for the donations of blocks, art kits and games [provided by Toys for Tots and distributed through Good360's non-profit partner, Toys Box Connection]. The children will be overjoyed with their gifts, and more importantly, they will be reminded that so many people care.”

The Marine Toys for Tots Program is a year–round force for good – we want to remind children in need that there is hope to be found in a simple gift and brighter days ahead.
