‘Thanks A Million’ -- Portland, Oregon
Throughout the spring and summer months, the Kids in Need Foundation will be sponsoring the ‘Thanks A Million’ distribution event to celebrate and give thanks to teachers in communities across the Nation. The Marine Toys for Tots Literacy Program will be providing books, purchased with support from our donors to thousands of teachers at the event!
Schoolhouse Supplies hosted the ‘Thanks A Million’ event in Portland, Oregon—and it was the first event that the organization has ever hosted. One thousand teachers were recognized at the event and were given school supplies and giveaways valued at $1 million! Foundation members and nearly one hundred volunteers contributed to the success of the event.
The Foundation’s Deputy Vice President of Operations, GySgt Mike Stuckey, USMC (Retired), attended in his dress blues to hand out books provided by Toys for Tots.
The teachers that attended the event were overjoyed to be receiving the supplies that they would typically need to buy on their own. A few teachers even commented that they loved to see a Marine in uniform helping hand out books!
Toys for Tots is a year-round force for good. We are honored to be part of events like these to give back to communities in need and to individuals who go above and beyond for our Nation’s most valuable resource—our children.
